The primary role of this position is to collaborate with members of the Stowers PI labs to advance our scientific research by designing gRNA and donors as well as mutation detection methods in the field of CRISPR technologies.
Responsibilities Include:
- Collaborating with PI lab members or other core members to perform experimental design, such as using scientific software including Snapgene and guide design tools to design primers, selecting guideRNA target sites, visualizing plasmid constructs, annotating features, and analyzing sequence data
- Proper handling of DNA and RNA samples using established methods for purification and quantification
- Perform molecular biology tasks using PCR, gel-electrophoresis, fragment-assembly cloning, and bacterial transformation
- Develop and execute in-house NGS workflows, including the following: targeted NGS amplicon library preparation and quantification
- Detailed, and accurate documentation of experimental procedures, data, and analysis, including meticulous sample tracking and data management
- Adapting and developing new and emerging gene-editing techniques
- Staying updated in the field of gene editing through literature reading, conferences, and workshops.
- Assisting with the development of internal courses and workshops for Stowers trainees
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
