The Building and Grounds Department at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research is seeking a Buildings and Grounds Assistant to help support the campus maintenance and enhancement projects. This role will work closely with the Lead Groundskeeper on daily tasks supporting the upkeep and maintenance of the outdoor grounds.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assists with mowing, trimming, weed eating lawn around facility as well as other grounds maintenance activities.
- Help maintain lawn, landscape beds, shrubs, and trees.
- Assisting with other departments, including Maintenance and moving/storage of furniture and equipment.
- Ensures all water features are properly maintained and kept clear by adding appropriate chemicals.
- Performs grounds maintenance activities that include planting trees, plants, shrubs and annual flowers.
- Assists with snow and ice removal to maintain safe campus pathways.
- Assists Housekeeping department with cleaning of floors, trash removal and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Knowledge of applicable equipment, tools, cleaning chemicals and safety procedures
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to operate groundskeeping and maintenance tools and equipment.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
Work shift is M-F 6:30am-3:00pm.
