The Stowers Institute for Medical Research has an opening for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Halfmann Lab (https://research.stowers.org/halfmannlab/). The lab studies an emerging fundamental feature of biology: nucleation-limited protein phase separation in cells. This research has broad implications for aging, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and ALS. The chosen candidate will develop and execute a project that contributes to the lab’s broader research objectives to understand the mechanisms and biological consequences of protein supersaturation and subsequent self-assembly in living cells, while gaining training in protein biophysics, proteomics, microscopy, cell biology, and science communication.
Successful candidates should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the demonstrated ability to lead a project both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Attention to detail, tenacity, and the ability to multitask effectively are highly valued.
Minimum requirements include a doctoral degree in biology, biochemistry, cell biology, biophysics, or a related field and at least one first author publication.
Submit the requested documents to Dr. Randal Halfmann at rhn@stowers.org cc: careers@stowers.org or to Administration Department, Stowers Institute for Medical Research, 1000 E 50th Street, Kansas City, MO 64110.
