Postdoctoral Research Associate (Developmental Neurobiology and Neural Circuit Studies)

The Stowers Institute for Medical Research has an opening for a Postdoctoral Researcher to address developmental neurobiology and neural circuit studies. The chosen candidate will participate in research in one or more of the following areas: the molecular mechanism of neural circuit specification, the development and plasticity of neural circuitry, and mapping of neural circuitry involved in specific behaviors. The lab employs a combination of methodologies including molecular genetics, single cell sequencing, fluorescent whole-brain imaging, optogenetic, chemicogenetic and behavioral techniques. The candidate will enjoy intramural research support from the Stowers Institute with strong support from core facilities that provide advice, training and service to enhance the Institute's interdisciplinary and collaborative research programs. Current core facilities are staffed by over 100 scientists with expertise in bioinformatics, cytometry, histology, imaging, microarray, next generation sequencing, transgenic and ES cell technologies, proteomics and molecular biology. Minimum requirements include a doctoral degree in the life sciences, chemistry, or biomedical engineering. Experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable but not required: molecular biology, developmental neuroscience, genetics, immunology, electrophysiology, and imaging.
