Research Technician - Cytometry
The Stowers Institute for Medical Research has an opening for a Research Technician to perform basic lab support tasks as a member of the Cytometry Team, performing basic flow cytometry techniques.
Responsibilities include basic equipment use; following standard operating procedures to setup, operate, and shutdown flow cytometers; supervised maintenance and routine care of equipment; supervised sample processing/staining.
The successful candidate will have entry level experience in a research environment (cytometry experience not a requirement); excellent organization and communication skills; attention to detail; the ability to work in a team oriented environment; and the knowledge and ability to effectively transfer learned information.
Desired requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in biology, physics, biochemistry or a related field with at least 1 to 3 years of laboratory experience (that may include college course lab work). Additional preferred skills include tissue culture and transfection of mammalian or non-mammalian cells; experience with PCR, restriction enzyme cloning, and other molecular biology techniques; a basic background in transcription, signal transduction, or cell biology.
