Scientist - Proteomics
The Proteomics Team at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research has an opening for a Scientist to provide biological mass spectrometry support to research groups at SIMR. This support will cover all aspects of our pipeline, from sample handling, data acquisition, data analysis, and report writing, as well as discussing experimental design and explaining results. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment are expected.
To fulfill such goals, the successful candidate should be able to regularly perform in all tasks associated with basic to complex SOPs, with a high proficiency not requiring supervision. The successful candidate will operate state-of-the-art liquid chromatography mass spectrometry systems and participate in instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. The successful candidate should be proficient in performing collaborative scientific research work, analyzing data, and visualizing large and complex datasets. The successful candidate should be able to plan project milestones, report conclusions or deliverables with proficiency. Finally, the successful candidate will have opportunities to carry out independent research and/or development projects such as applying new technologies to specific biological questions.
Minimum requirements include a Ph.D. degree in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology or a related field with several years of demonstrated experience working in a scientific laboratory setting. Proven expertise in mass spectrometry via a strong publication record is preferred.
