Research Specialist - REQID0002107

Protein Molecular Modeling

Si Lab |

Job ID: REQID0002107

The Stowers Institute for Medical Research has an opening for a computational research specialist to join the Si Lab. The lab studies the role of protein structural plasticity in mediating cell state changes such as those found in memory formation. This research has broad implications for our understanding of neurodegenerative diseases as well as how the proteome evolved. The chosen candidate will contribute to the lab’s goals by performing protein structure predictions with AI based tools (such as AlphaFold) as well as traditional molecular dynamics and evaluating those predictions in light of cross-linking mass spectrometry and imaging experiments.

Successful candidates should have excellent writing and communication skills, and the demonstrated ability to lead a project both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Attention to detail, tenacity, and the ability to multitask effectively are highly valued.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Masters or Doctorate degree in biology, biochemistry, cell biology, biophysics, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of cutting-edge developments in predictions of protein structure and interaction is strongly preferred.

Application Instructions: To apply, please submit the requested documents to careers@stowers.org or to Administration Department, Stowers Institute for Medical Research, 1000 E 50th Street, Kansas City, MO 64110.
