For the thirty students who participated in the Stowers Summer Scholars Program, the culmination of their hard work was on display for the Stowers community, family, and friends at the Scholars’ poster session. Each Scholar presented a poster detailing the research they had conducted throughout the summer.
This collective showcase of projects provides a professional development opportunity for undergraduate researchers to gain experience and build confidence in presenting and describing their work to others. “It is our goal to provide a context for aspiring scientists. The poster session is just one way in which they are able to gain an overall impression of a career in science beyond the rote tasks of an experiment, “ says Ana Pedraza, PhD, associate dean for academic affairs of the Graduate School.
