This year we welcome eight predoctoral researchers to the Graduate School. Their first few months will be spent in module courses to provide a foundation of knowledge and skills that they will then carry into laboratory rotations. Though the COVID-19 pandemic has led to these initial module courses being held online, GSSIMR continues to focus on maintaining academic progress. The Critical Reading and Writing course will be moved to Spring 2021 to allow the incoming predocs more time and flexibility during the remote learning period.
Laboratory components of the module courses will be completed in January and February, or as soon as the group can safely arrive on campus. After courses are complete, the predocs will move into PI labs, first in rotations that allow them to explore different scientific areas, then to the lab where they will manage a research project and complete their Ph.D. thesis. Meet the new group of researchers.
