Why did you choose to attend Stowers Graduate School?
The Stowers Insitute has a unique environment to pursue a Ph.D., particularly for international students. Their effort to create a supportive community from the administrative staff, research staff, to faculty, makes it unparalleled to start doing cutting-edge research in the formative stages of my scientific career.
What would you consider key takeaways from the program?
To be honest, there are so many I could not say them shortly. Broadly speaking, I valued the genuine interest of each person at the Institute to help bring the best version of yourself as a scientist and human being.
Where are you now in your career path and how did Stowers Graduate School prepare you to get there?
I am currently a postdoc at the University of Chicago. I want to continue doing research and have my own lab. The Graduate School at the Stowers Institute was fundamental to preparing me for any scientific challenge I want to endeavor. It showed me how my identity does not hinder but potentiates my scientific career.
How would you describe the value of Stowers Graduate School to someone who is considering a PhD in Biology?
Getting a Ph.D. always comes with inherent difficulties, but by studying it at Stowers Institute you'll have the tools and support to persevere to bring the best of you as a scientist.
