The Construction Services team at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research is seeking a skilled and experienced Carpenter to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in precision craftsmanship and can handle a variety of interior finish projects. You’ll work on everything from detailed trim work to modular furniture installation, helping maintain and enhance the high standards of our facility.
Responsibilities Include:
- Install interior finishes including trim, doors, windows, and cabinetry
- Build, repair, and replace woodwork, drywall, and other building materials
- Install and maintain drop ceilings
- Assemble and install modular furniture systems
- Repair and replace door locks, hinges, closers, and other hardware
- Measure, cut, and assemble materials with accuracy using hand and power tools
- Maintain tools, equipment, and carpentry supply inventory
- Conduct routine facility maintenance to ensure safety and functionality
- Follow all safety protocols and building regulations
- Collaborate with the facilities team to plan and complete projects efficiently
- Take on additional duties as needed
Requirements:
- Proven experience in finish carpentry or a similar role
- Proficient in drop ceiling work, modular furniture installation, and door lock/hardware repairs
- Strong understanding of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Vocational training or carpentry apprenticeship (preferred)
