Jason's Profile
Jason Morrison is a molecular biologist and Scientific Project Manager at the Stowers Institute with more than 25 years of laboratory experience spanning high-throughput DNA sequencing, stem cell biology, neuroscience, developmental biology, and disease research. Jointly appointed across multiple Technology Center departments, Morrison leads collaborative scientific projects and the development and implementation of advanced technologies including spatial transcriptomics, subcellular proteomics, single-cell analyses, and RNA visualization.
Morrison earned a B.S. in biological sciences from the University of Missouri–Columbia. He joined the Stowers Institute in 2009, initially conducting research in the Kulesa Lab focused on neural crest development, cell migration, melanoma, and neuroblastoma. His work increasingly incorporated the development and application of molecular technologies to investigate biological questions across developmental biology, neuroscience, and disease.
In his current role, Morrison leads scientific projects requiring expertise across multiple Technology Center departments, advises researchers throughout the Institute on experimental design, and evaluates emerging technologies for potential adoption and application to research. His areas of expertise include spatial transcriptomics, subcellular proteomics, single-cell analyses, next-generation sequencing, RNA visualization, confocal microscopy, bioinformatics, histology, and tissue culture. Morrison also served as a lecturer at the Graduate School of the Stowers Institute from 2011–2025, teaching RNA visualization, single-cell analyses, and laser capture microdissection.
