Stowers Institute for Medical Research Investigator Tatjana Piotrowski, PhD, has been appointed editor of the Annual Review of Genetics which is a member of the family of publications from Annual Reviews.
Annual Review journals and articles aim to bring scientific literature to the forefront of the discussions of scholars and society. Expert editorial committees in a variety of scientific disciplines discuss trends in each field and select relevant topics for review. In doing so, they explore the current understanding of a topic, highlight the major questions that remain within the field, and outline the practical applications and general significance of research to society. Piotrowski will lead the editorial committee that addresses the scientific literature and knowledge in the field of genetics.
Piotrowski leads a research program at the Stowers Institute that focuses on the development and regeneration of the lateral line sensory system in zebrafish. Research of this system offers growing insight into human sensory organ development and disease, including hearing disorders.
She serves on the editorial board of eLife and is a permanent member of the Development-1 study section of the National Institutes of Health. Piotrowski also serves on the faculty of The Graduate School of the Stowers Institute for Medical Research and teaches a section of the summer Embryology Course at the Marine Biology Laboratory in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.
