Summer Scholars Program
The Stowers Summer Scholars Program offers undergraduate students the opportunity to become immersed in a research topic for a full-time ten-week period and experience firsthand the intellectual and collaborative spirit of research.
This summer opportunity is available for students from the U.S. and all over the globe. Our deadline for participation in the summer of 2016 has passed. Please check our website in September 2016 for opportunities for the summer of 2017.
There are also research opportunities available at the Stowers Institute for undergraduates who live in the greater Kansas City area during the academic year (September – May). Faculty are looking for talented and dedicated undergraduate students currently pursuing a degree in the biological or physical sciences. The rotations are specifically designed for the serious student who desires a short-term but meaningful research experience.
Students will work under the direction of a Stowers scientist on a specific project with defined educational objectives and have access to appropriate institute facilities, equipment, materials and supplies.
Selected candidates will have at least a 3.2 undergraduate GPA, be at least 18 years of age, and currently enrolled in a degree-granting program in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, chemistry, physics, computing, mathematics or a related field. Rotations are at least eight weeks in duration and may be extended by mutual agreement.
